FEDERICA CANDIDO (EDITOR ERENEWS)

Dear reader of EREnews,

Prof. Flavio Pajer, who conceived, edited and published the bulletin for twenty years, has generously ceded his cultural work to the current scientific committee, made up of professors from the Master’s degree course in “Religions, Cultures, History” of the Department of Humanistic Studies at Roma Tre University, and to the new editorial staff, made up of professors and young scholars from the same university.

The Scientific Committee and the editorial staff, in turn, welcome this passing of the torch with a great sense of gratitude and with the highest commitment so that this tool, in the renewal, can continue to be useful and effective for its audience. From 2021, EREnews will focus its interest and research focus exclusively on the range of subjects and issues related to education on religions and the religious fact within the public spaces of schools, universities and the different educational agencies.

EREnews adopts a secular and plural perspective and is involved in building a space for discussion and in-depth analysis. The quarterly bulletin, which is the result of the work of the editorial staff, is divided into two parts: the first, entirely dedicated to information, is composed of a reasoned press review organised by themes and focused on different geographical areas; a section dedicated to new publications; a section on projects, experiments and workshops in progress; and a notice of Calls for Papers, conferences and seminars (past and future).

The second part, which we like to call “monographic section”, is made up of an in-depth examination of a specific theme (decided from time to time by the scientific committee and the editorial staff), dealt with from an international point of view, and an informative space, dedicated to illustrating the teaching of religion/religions in the different European school systems.

This structure, which is the result of many moments of confrontation within the editorial staff and the scientific committee, we believe allows us to build a solid and reasoned information starting from the binomial “education-religions”.

We think of EREnews also as a space for dialogue and confrontation: we like to imagine it as a “square” (a sort of agorà) where discussion and debate on the role that religions still play in education and in the public dimension become central. EREnews, almost like a real observatory, intends to provide an up-to-date look at the main themes and the most important research paths on which the European study centres dedicated to Religious Studies are working.

EREnews intends to reach a readership interested in the study of religions and the religious fact at any historical and geographical latitude and, in particular, it intends to address the world of education professionals, students and scholars of the many areas of research related to the phenomenon of religions and the sacred. scientific rigour and a contagious sense of curiosity during these months.

My gratitude to them is not only for the work they have done but, above all, for the stimuli and suggestions that, by virtue of a daily confrontation, have allowed us to begin to imagine the routes to take in order to build together the new structure of EREnews, intended as an instrument of information, analysis and debate.

This issue has been realised by the editorial staff of EREnews, composed of Federica Candido, Francesco Carta, Giandomenico Ferrazza, Sara Giorgetti, Giulia Nardini, Michele Trabucco. The contents, supervised by the scientific committee, are, unless otherwise specified, the responsibility of the entire editorial staff.
